Getting started

Welcome to romHEX14 — a multi-project ECU ROM editor with A2L map support, AI-driven analysis, and ROM comparison tools.

This guide walks you through your first project.

Install

Download the latest installer from the downloads page and run it. The installer places the app in your standard application directory and registers a file association for .rx14proj project files.

Sign in (optional)

You can use romHEX14 fully without an account, but signing in unlocks paid modules (AI Functions, DTC management, Porsche BCM, etc.) and syncs purchase entitlements across machines.

Open the welcome screen and click Sign in in the account ribbon, or use the top-bar button.

Your first project

  1. From the welcome screen, click New project.
  2. Pick a ROM file (.bin, .hex, .ori, .bbf, .mot, .s19).
  3. Optionally import an A2L file from Project → Import A2L… to get named maps with units and scaling.
  4. Edit values in the hex view, the 2D waveform, or the 3D map view. All three views are synchronized.
  5. Save with Cmd/Ctrl+S — the project is auto-saved 1.5 s after every change too.
